Job Interviews and Spring Cleaning

Yup… That is what I am doing today. I’ve got a couple job interviews and I’m doing a bit of spring cleaning. So, nothing fun. One of the interviews is going to be a ride along for a paper route. I’m really hoping to get that job so I can maybe do the route on my bike.

I have been bike 20 miles every day lately. I have been loving it. It’s ¬†good distraction from life because it doesn’t cost anything to do. I don’t have to worry about gas, just if I am hydrating enough. The only thing is that I can’t find the leash attachment to my bike, so I can’t take Noble with me. I’m thinking that I could just make a leash that will work till I can afford another one.

Other than the interviews, bike riding, and cleaning, I haven’t been doing much. I am still recovering from my most recent overdose. It has nearly destroyed my kidneys and damaged my liver. So, I’m having weekly blood draws to check my liver and kidney functions. Yippee… My arms are all bruised up because of how many blood draws I’ve had…

How was camping?

Well, everything you can possibly think of went wrong…

I live in Montana. The weather reports are not reliable due to the constant weather change. All my friends and I prepared for it to be freezing cause it always is. The only thing is that we didn’t expect for the tent to break and the car to break down. The first night, we car camped. I had my own tent, but they didn’t want me to sleep out there alone.

The car broke down the next morning. We didn’t have cell service at the camp site, and the closest we were to cell service was about ten miles. One of my friends had to dirve her own car because she had to work a few of the days. I had a terrible migraine, so I rode back with her and had my dad take me up again so that he could see what was wrong with the other vehicle.

I grabbed two cans of the Starbucks double shot coffees to take with me to help with the migraine. When I got home and took a proper nap, it was a bit better. But if I get to the point where no amount of medication in the world can get rid of my migraine, I turn to the Starbucks double shot coffees. It is like a magic potion. Sometimes I think it’s magic. The next time you get a stubborn migraine, try them. You can get them at any gas station or grocery store.

Anyways, I got back up to the camp site and we got another back up tent. We set it up and then played a round of garbage and BS. A few hours later, my migraines back so I drink some of the coffee. It was about 6:30 PM when it started to get cold. We fixed some burgers and started a fire. Well, the fire wouldn’t take to the logs, so we just kept feeding it kindling then gave up. We then got in our tents and tried to get warm.

I got warm pretty fast. Keen didn’t though. He was a shivering heap and I was afraid I would end up with a frozen dog in the morning. I had about three blankets that I covered him with, but he would get up once I covered him. And then a buffalo ended up wandering into our camp. It was fine. They aren’t agressive unless you spook them. Well Keen didn’t get the memo and started growling. I tried to keep him from barking, and before long, the buffalo wandered back into the shrubs by the creek (he was a very handsome buffalo by the way).

This post is getting long… But there’s more. In the morning, the creek had frozen over and the fire still wouldn’t take the logs. I was tempted to crawl back into my tent and wait for the world to thaw, but Keen was hungry. I fed him and then had to round him up to get back in the tent. Everything thawed out around 9:00 AM. It was in the eighties by 10:00 AM. My migraine came back and I was out of coffee. So, I started packing up all my stuff knowing that I was going home.

All in all, I guess you could say it was an experience. We saw tons of buffalo, a 200 pound black bear about 5 miles from camp, and a very large grizzly about 2 miles from camp. Keen was having a blast catching mice. Turns out he is quite good at it. He caught 14 mice and dug up 3 nests. It’s a good thing too because it turns out that my little brother let a pack rat in the house…
